Dining out
There are plenty of restaurants in Nevada to whet even the most jaded of palates. Visit Firefly on Paradise Road in Las Vegas and you will see plenty of locals dining, a sure sign of a great restaurant and not one that is just for tourists. While not exactly gourmet, the food is definitely something a little different than the usual rack of ribs, with its signature dish being bacon-wrapped dates topped with blue cheese. If sushi is your thing, then pay a visit to Nobu, a global restaurant chain that is certainly not ordinary. At Nobu, you can sample fish that you may not be able to find anywhere else. If you have a hankering for Italian, then head to Sirio. This restaurant serves traditional Italian food without modern frills and is all the better for it. Homemade pasta, full of flavor, and in generous portions. What’s not to love?

Historical attractions
If you want to take in a bit of history while in Nevada, then you could head for the National Automobile Museum in Reno. This museum is home to a range of cars dating from the 19th century right up to the modern-day, and there are at least 200 cars permanently on display in its four galleries. You will be able to see Elvis’s 1973 Cadillac Eldorado, the Lincoln Continental that JFK was assassinated in, and a bespoke 24-carat gold-plated DeLorean DMC12 originally made for American Express.
Nature-lovers should pay a visit to the Springs Preserve and Nevada State Museum, which has botanical gardens that are free to enter and a museum with exhibitions that have a strong focus on sustainability. Another favorite will be the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden, which has more than 300 species of plants covering an area of four acres. During the holiday season, the gardens are lit up with colored lights to create a beautiful attraction, and there is a treat for chocolate lovers on the self-viewing aisle inside the chocolate factory because you can help yourself to a free sample.
Natural attractions
What Nevada has in abundance is natural attractions. The most famous of these is probably the Grand Canyon. Here you can view a wide variety of wildlife and plant life, but also get a taste of adventure by rafting on the river, taking a hike, going on a trail in the area around the river, or getting a bird’s eye view on a helicopter ride.
If you enjoy stunning scenery, then head for Lake Tahoe. The second deepest lake in the US, Lake Tahoe has famously clear blue water surrounded by mountains. A favorite destination for ski fans in the winter, summer visitors can enjoy water sports, such as jet-skiing, parasailing, and yachting, while the more energetic can embark on hikes, go cycling, and camp out.
