Johnson Farms Plants and Pumpkins is located just a few miles outside the city. They have a 140-acre farm that produces flowers and plants in 2 seasons. In the fall, the sequence begins with u-pick sunflowers, then mum, and then u-pick apples. From September onwards, you will find beautiful u-pick pumpkins that grow through the Halloween season.
There are u-pick cherries and strawberries when they are in season as well. There are attractions you can also enjoy when visiting the farm to pick sunflowers. Some of the attractions include a barnyard arcade, a truck playground, a fun barn with a rock climbing wall, a ninja wheel trapeze, and obstacle courses.
Shively Farms
Location: 5950 Southeast Croco Rd. Berryton, Kansas
There is a beautiful sunflower field in Berryton that also doubles as an animal farm. You get to take long walks inside the trails at Shively Farms as you enjoy the yellow blooms and later head to the barns to pet the calves and goats. Although the farm is not yet a certified organic farm, they grow all their crops organically throughout the year. You will need to schedule u-pick times when visiting the farm for fresh flowers and fresh vegetables.
Like other farms in the Lawrence, Kansas region, the sunflowers on the Narrow Trail Farm also start blooming in late August. The season continues until the final flower droops.
Grinter Farms

There are rows and rows of hundreds of thousands of beautiful yellow flowers on this farm, providing you with the perfect opportunity to take amazing photographs. They do not charge an entry fee, but they accept donations for the flowers you cut from the farm as a token of appreciation.
The sunflower blooming occurs for about two weeks only before the sunflowers start withering away. The sunflower seeds are harvested after the flowers wither and sold as bird feed. Other types of crops grown on this farm during different times of the year include corn, soybeans, and cherry flowers. The 40-acre sunflower patch is open to the public 24/7. They have set up props in strategic places to help you make the best possible shots in the field.
Eleanor Events

Admission to Eleanor’s is free. Donations are accepted. The farm is open daily from sunrise to sunset. There are over 30 acres of sunflowers, holding thousands of tall, beautiful yellow blooms. You are welcome to take photos free of charge. If you want to carry some flowers with you, you will pay for each stem you cut.
If you have a private social activity, you can rent Eleanor’s white barn which accommodates up to 200 guests. Note that this barn is offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Juniper Hill Farms

Juniper Hills is a young farm that was started in the year 2006. It specializes in the growth of organic farm vegetables, flowers, and herbs. They have over 600 acres under USDA-certified organic farms, 50 acres under vegetable farming, and over 400 acres of sustainably grown land. Here, they grow crops such as corn, alfalfa, grapes, hay, and radishes.
During the fall season, they have a small u-pick sunflower field. Visitors can come to enjoy photo ops and probably carry some flowers home when they leave.

Lamborn Farm

The Lamborn Farm is an old farm. It was established in 1877 as a small subsistence farm. The farm would become a dairy farm before growing further to include crop farming and flower farming. The sunflower farm here is not large, and they are not allowing a u-pick model this year unless they communicate otherwise on their social media platforms. The grounds are great for holding weddings, parties, and other social events. In the spring season, they grow asparagus and assorted wildflowers. In the summer, they grow sweet corn, tomatoes, and peppers. In the fall, sunflowers and pumpkins are the main crops and flowers grown here.
Next to Nature Farm

Next to Nature Farm is a small establishment that specializes in the production of honey, beekeeping supplies, and beekeeping equipment. They also sell bees for pollination to other farmers. Their sunflowers and other wildflowers are mainly used to provide nectar for the bees (for pollination purposes).
The flowers are not available for picking but you can request to purchase a bouquet of sunflowers mixed with other wildflowers at the farm stand.
Hunsinger Farm

No admission fee is charged when visiting the Hunsinger Farm. You can offer a voluntary donation after your visit. The size of the farm is 300 acres.

There are props set all over the farm to enhance these photo-taking opportunities, including an old tractor and large sunflower murals.
Oregon Trail Farm

Oregon Trail Farm grows all kinds of berries – raspberries, blueberries, blackberries- pastured eggs, and local honey. They have a well-established apiary that also serves as an education center for people seeking to rear bees. They do not use any herbicides or fungicides when planting their crops.
Their sunflower farm is not large, and the flowers are grown primarily to work with the apiary. You need to schedule a visit here when the flowers are blooming, but you may not be allowed to cut the flowers when leaving the farm.
Sunflower Fields in Wichita Kansas
Klausmeyer Farm Sunflower Fields
Location: 8135 S 119th St W., Clearwater, Kansas 67026
The Klausmeyer Farm has two seasons every year. They open the first field in July and the other field somewhere in August. The owners of the farm communicate all the opening dates on their Facebook page. The admission fee is $11 per person, and this gives you access to the sunflower fields and activities.
If you want to explore the whole farm, you will pay an extra fee. You will have access to hayrides and other entertainment activities on the farm. During the Halloween season, they create different activities, including zombie paintball and a 5-acre maze. They offer u-pick pumpkins during this period. They open the farm to the public from September 18th to late October.
Cedar Creek Farm Sunflowers

The Smith Family has been operating the Cedar Creek Farm for several generations, although they opened it to the public in 2019. They provide the perfect place for families to unwind, enjoy taking refreshing walks among beautiful sunflowers, and sweet farm animals.
They have a corn maze, a fire pit, barrel trains, wagon rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, and corn pits. Kids will enjoy the kids’ zone where various activities happen, including steer roping dummies, slides, teeter go-rounds, play sets, and a tiny town.
Augusta Sunflower Field

The Augusta Sunflower Field is owned and operated by Diana Burress, and it offers one of the most scenic views in the state. The flowers are free to pick, and they do not charge an admission fee. You should bring your cutter or shears with you for this process. The flowers start blooming from mid-September to late September, but you can check Diana’s social media platform to know when she announces the dates for opening the fields.
Sunflower Festival at Kansas Maze

The sunflower field opens from August to September at the Kansas Maze. You will find numerous props on the farm to take stunning photos, and the management has recently introduced sunflower painting classes to further indulge sunflower lovers.
Your $10 ticket gives you access to the sunflower fields, the photo ops, the trails, and the playground. You will also get a free sunflower with this admission, but you have to pay extra if you want to add more sunflower stems to your container. Professional photography sessions are charged extra as well.

They charge $5 per person and $10 for a family. Other crops grown on this farm include pumpkins and corn. Once the sunflower season is over, you can purchase sunflower seeds or cold-pressed sunflower oil from the farm.
