With summer vacation just around the corner, you might be considering taking your family outside of the United States for a while. There are so many fantastic destinations to visit, but out of them all, I would highly recommend considering Germany. Berlin, in particular, is a great family holiday destination and has some museums and playgrounds just for kids!

The Best Things to do In Berlin, Germany

Miss Sarah and I went there in 2016 and had a blast! You can see Berlin Wall remnants, the Brandenburg Gate, and make sure you hit a McDonald’s. Seriously. Their chocolate cake was almost a religious experience and the salad I got was made right before my eyes. We were ruined for McDonald’s USA – there is not even a close contest between the two.

Look all over the city for the brick path that shows where the Berlin Wall used to sit.

Here are the best things to do in Berlin, Germany as a family.

Aquadom and Sea Life

If you are looking for an underwater adventure, you’ll find it here at Aquadom and Sea Life. Aquadom is located in the Radisson Blu Hotel and is home to more than 1,000 unique tropical fish. It is the largest free-standing aquarium in the world. Next, to the Aquadom, you’ll find Sea Life where you can see exotic sea creatures and even get the chance to feed one!

BerWerk

If you are an active family or looking for a little adventure, this is the perfect place for you and your family! This interactive playground lets adventure seekers climb obstacles, use rope slides, and other tracks to explore and discover. There are different tracks for all skill levels so even grandparents and toddlers can join.

Berlin Zoo

This zoo is the oldest zoo in Germany, and while that might not sound that exciting, it’s one of the best! It first opened its doors to the public in 1844! The Berlin Zoo has over 20,000 animals ranging from reptiles to birds, and is the only zoo in the country where you can see live pandas!

Legoland

The Legoland Discovery Centre is a must stop destination on your trip! There are over five million Lego blocks in this indoor playground. You can ride two different rides and even catch a 4D movie here.

Museum für Naturkunde

This museum could be better renamed the Museum of Natural History. Inside this museum, you will find a preserved T-Rex skeleton, as well as other fossils from the same period. Children can learn about planets, animals, minerals, and even the solar system. There are so many things to see and explore in this museum that you could spend hours here.

Science Center Spectrum

Whether you are an adult or child, I guarantee this is one of the coolest places you’ll ever visit. Visitors will get the unique opportunity to try science and technology experiments, many requiring the use of your senses. This is a great chance to learn something new and have fun playing with science.

Waldhochseilgarten Jungfernheide

As any parent will confirm, sometimes you need to let your kids blow off some steam! The Waldhochseilgarten Jungfernheide is the perfect place to do that! This natural climbing ground has plenty of trees to climb and many different climbing activities for kids. There are activities for a variety of different ages, and anyone over six can find something to climb.
