There are more reasons than we can count to visit Paris, France. Between the elaborate cuisine, astonishing architecture, and extensive history of this City of Lights, Paris is filled with beautiful places to see.
The Eiffel Tower. Let’s start with the obvious and recognize this monumental structure that stands over 900 feet high and gets visits from millions each year.
The Catacombs of Paris. Dating back to the eighteenth, these haunting catacombs are beautiful in their own way because of their mystery of their time. If it’s a little bit of the dark side of this city, then put this on your list.
Notre Dame Cathedral. So many sculptures and stained glass windows decorate this infamous cathedral that is a must visit and one of the most beautiful places in Paris. It is known as one of the French Gothic structures in the world.
Sacre Coeur. Or “Sacred Heart” which sits high above Paris and is a sight to see with it’s white domes that decorate the outside of this amazing church. Inside you will find glittering red and gold mosaics depicting Jesus and other beautiful works that feature St. Michael the Archangel.
Luxembourg Gardens. Here you will find over 50 acres of landscaped gardens to explore and relax in when you just need a break from the busy city. The kids will love it too, so pack a picnic and enjoy the serene atmosphere right in the heart of Paris.
Arc de Triumph. This ornate 164-foot at the Champs des Elysees is every sight seer’s dream place to visit. When in Paris, put this on your list just to see it’s gorgeous sculptures that are set inside the archways. If you visit in the evening, you can also see the Unknown Soldier’s flame lit and capture some beautiful photos.
Chateau de Versailles. You can venture about 30 minutes outside the city and walk the grounds of the Chateau and see where the Treaty of Versailles was signed that put an end to WWI. It’s a tourist hotspot, so try to arrive early and dress comfortably so that you can spend the day and see everything from the inside out. The Versailles is truly a one of the most beautiful places in all of Paris.
Centre Pompidou. In the center of the city you will find a mecca of modern and contemporary art. Tons of museums with gorgeous artwork abound this area, so if you are not really a fan then this may not be the locale for you. Check out the unusual restaurants and shops while you are here as well.
Museum of Modern Art. When you think of French culture, think about this fabulous place. The collections here will astound even the amatuer art lover.
Le Promenade Plante. This long, lush, and floral covered walkway that was once a railroad track offers gorgeous views above the city. You can still get a glimpse of the hustle and bustle of it all, but keep a peaceful state of mind.
Sainte Chapelle. Noted as one of Paris’s top ten must places to visit, this 13th century church has a beautiful stained glass windows and an elaborately decorated ceiling that is worthy seeing if you can.
Pont Neuf. A bridge is not usually known as a beautiful spot to visit, however, Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge in the city of Paris so you must. And it’s not the bridge itself that is so easy on the eye, it’s all the amazing photos you will be able to take from this super spot.
