What do you get when you combine a Bed & Breakfast with a winery with buffalo and even toss a little live music in there? The amazing environment of the Little Swan Lake Winery and Bed & Breakfast that is just a short drive from Estherville, Iowa!
Iowa Wineries
I have always loved the story of the people behind a place , what it was in their story that made everything line up perfectly to create what they do. The Little Swan Lake Winery story evolved over several decades. Scott fell in love with the farmstead in 1972 when he was hired on as a painter. Twenty years later, he and Diane had the chance to actually buy it and start making their dreams come to life. Loving to always try new things, they started planting grapes and while waiting for their crops to mature, learned everything they need to know to make wine: lisencing, what equipment they needed and more. The actual making of wine was simple they learned, just a combination of the grapes and yeast, but the process from grape to the bottle was the trick.

When their grapes failed to really take hold in the Northwestern Iowan climate, being too cold or not hearty enough, they switched to buying their grapes and grape juice for their brand. Scott’s love of dry red wines drives the brand flavors, but they mix in white and a few sweet wines for the rest of us bringing in an average of 30 lovingly made labels for sale.

As their agritourism developed, they added live music three nights a week and a space for 100-115 patrons to enjoy it with farm to table dishes featuring their own farm raised buffalo. For their support of live music, they were just recgnized by the Iowa Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame.
The entertaining space, as well as lodging accommodation for customers is a converted barn. It has a lovely setting that is sure to guarantee you a magical experience. They has a large main room with a balcony. The lodgings have an outdoor view the blesses your sight with swans on ponds for that magical dawn that you so desire and deserve.

I know they say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the pictures can’t do the lovely bed and breakfast space Justice. Each different room, or set of rooms, is so incredibly well done down to the final touches and smallest details.

There was one wooden style bathtub that you can just picture yourself soaking in on a cold winter night. It might even be big enough to have your sweetie in it with you.

Wedding Venues in Iowa
This little hideaway is a great place to celebrate your honeymoon or to even escape to for a girl’s weekend! Their most popular servings of Buffalo Ridge wine and Buffalo meat pizza can be enjoyed with the company of live music besides having a little time alone…and if you are looking to celebrate anything else? There is an event hall which can accommodate more massive gathering such as a wedding reception or anniversaries. A mere five minutes’ drive from the Okoboji area, the winery is easily accessible to both out of area visitors and people living nearby.

The environment is not only serene, beautiful, and peaceful but it is pretty darned eco-friendly. Solar panels were the last thing I expected to see when visiting a winery, but was delighted with the concept.
