Royal Oak Farm Orchard is a 120-acre setting located in Northern Illinois near the Wisconsin state line. Royal Oak is a you-pick orchard from the months of mid-August to mid-November, bearing 17,000 Apple frees with over 30 varieties of apples to choose from.

The family-owned farm orchard’s mission is to glorify God by growing family traditions and to serve the community while producing quality fruits. Royal Oak also grows winter squash, giant pumpkins, and gourds.

Royal Oak Farm Orchard has a pre-picked selection of apples, pumpkins, squash, and gourds if you aren’t up for picking them yourself. You’ll find these selections in the Harvest Barn or the Apple Barn. While you are there get an Apple cider slushie to tide you over before heading over to find a seat in the Country Kitchen Restaurant that seats 150 people with a dining room and outdoor seating.

Country Kitchen’s chef prepares soups, sandwiches, and entrees daily, Royal Orchard Country Kitchen has a famous chicken pot pie along with other homemade country cooking and desserts like homemade apple pies, Apple cider donuts, and apple slices that are sure to please your appetite.
I had the delish chicken pot pie and Miss Sarah tried the Chicken Parmesean – with buttered noodles, mixed vegetables, and apple sauce – to be followed with salted caramel apple pie a la mode.

If it is an adventure you and your family are seeking head over to the Amaze N Apples apple tree maze, this apple tree maze is the first of its kind. The Amaze N Apple maze has over 2,500 Apple trees with 9 different varieties along with trellis wiring like the ancient Roman espalier tradition.
Amaze N Apple maze has over 1.5 miles of beautifully pruned apple trees along its trail. As you make your way across the 5 acres of the Apple trail maze you can learn about the history of Princess Snowsweet and other varied activities throughout the maze. You are able to pick 2 apples from any tree to enjoy later or on the way around. Honestly, there is nothing like a freshly picked apple – that you can nibble on right away and not have to worry about washing it!

A hayride can be taken around the 120-acre farm orchard on an antique tractor, which goes for about 30 minutes. Each rider gets to pick 2 apples from the orchard during the hayride and once returning you’ll be greeted by a roaring bonfire to enjoy.
Additional accommodations can be purchased for the hayride as well. The hayride will stop at the Amaze N Apple maze to let you venture through the maze and partake in the activities within the maze, you can also purchase an add-on to pick your very own pumpkin to take home.

The entertainment area of Royal Oaks Farm Orchard is free but tokens must be purchased for all rides. There is a carousel, express train, playground, petting zoo, concert gazebo, and Snack Shop. Wristbands are also available if you’ve planned to enjoy the attractions of the entertainment area.

Stop by the gift shop with its expanded selection of unique gift ideas such as bake mixes, jellies, and Royal Oak Farm honey that is produced in the orchard. Make sure to pick up some fudge from the Fudge Shop and don’t forget the homemade fruit pies from the Royal Oaks Family Orchard Bakery.

It is only open in the fall – from the end of August to Early November.
Fall Season Hours
Monday — Thursday 10 AM-5 PM
Friday — Sunday 10 AM-6 PM
- Restaurant Serving 11 AM-2 PM Weekdays & 10 AM-5 PM Weekends
- Maze, Apple Picking, and Pumpkin Patch last admission is 1 hour prior to closing
- Train and Carousel will only operate on Weekends
