Pub 47 is the Perfect Place for Playing with Friends

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. This helps support what we do and in no way costs you a thing.

Easy to find, being just under the water tower, Pub 47 offers an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming while you enjoy excellent service, fully stocked bar, and a large variety of traditional fares. All dishes are made from the freshest ingredients and made to order.

We were taken by the impressive list of specials on the board when we entered and switched up our plans before hitting the table with our group. That Pulled Pork Poutine grabbed our eyes…and the Pumpkin Pie Martini was tempting, but we have a few more stops to make yet and I am a total light weight when alcohol is concerned. Drinking and driving are a HUGE no-no in our family! (And we hope in yours too…)

Once you take a look at the menu you’ll be faced with an important choice, which to choose! Pub 47’s menu is full of items made to order like “Today’s Specials“, wraps, flatbreads, pizza, sliders, entrees, burgers, soups, calzones, and sandwiches. Smaller portion size are available as starters, food for the table, or smaller appetites. Start with pork pot stickers, tomato and mozzarella bruschetta, or calamari while you and your family and friends make their decision of what to have.

We settled on a local favorite that we have never heard of : Beer Nuggets. They are flash frozen then fried pizza dough that puffs up into almost hollow pillows. It is quickly seasoned with garlic, Parmesan and other secrets to be served along a bowl of their homemade sauce for dipping it in to…one plate easily serves 4-6 people!

The burger lover will enjoy the “Flaming Cheese Curd” Burger, a half pound burger with battered cheese curds that’ve been tossed in Hot and Spicy Buffalo sauce. The “Quesadilla” burger is a half pound burger between two 6” cheese quesadilla then layers with Pepper Jack cheese, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, and salsa. Teriyaki beef strips, mixed greens, and Polynesian slaw make up the insides of the “Asian Beef” wrap. If it’s a sandwich you want give the “Grilled Chicken Florentine” a try, sliced mozzarella, spinach, tomato, and a creamy garlic dressing sit atop a grilled chicken breast between sourdough bread. Choices also include a grilled salmon sandwich, grilled cheese, and blackened chicken pita.

Entrees feature a shrimp dinner, Polynesian salmon, baby back ribs, chicken piccata, and beef tenderloin skewers just to name a few. Miss Sarah went for the fancy mac ‘n cheese – and started with a cup of their tomato basil soup. While the basil should have been chopped up finer for being left in the soup, after it was fished out, the soup had a delightful texture, consistency and flavor.

I went with the Poutine special…battered fries, topped with cheese curds (not fried ones) and then heated with pulled pork and BBQ sauce to top it. I did ask for them to skip the green onions that normally grace this dish…so I am sure it is usually prettier. Either way? It was delish – and too much for me to eat! Both Sarah and I brought half our meals home in a box…there was no way that yumminess was going to be left at the table for the rubbish bin!

Belly up at the bar after a long day or just a relaxing drink. Pub 47 has an astonishing bar menu with choices from around the state such as Crystal Lake Brewing in Crystal Lake, Pollyanna Brewing in Lemont, Spiteful Brewing in Chicago. Draft beers are available in a variety of bottles and cans. Pub 47 has over 10 specialty cocktails to choose from ranging from “Skinny Mojito” made with low carb citrus liquor. You can build your own Bloody Mary, ask for the BYOB form and let your imagination run wild. There is also a “Pub 47 Long Island” made with new Amsterdam Citron. Spice it up with the “Exotic Margarita” made with agave nectar, sweet soda, and lime juice. The martini menu is as equally enticing choices like the “Mango Pineapple Salsa” martini, “Peach Blossom” martini, or give the “Root Beer Float” martini if you’re looking for a twist. If wine is your choice you’ll be able to pick from red and white wines.
