Greetings Estherville Iowa Traveler: Hospitality at it’s Best

When you are a travel writer, you tend to visit a lot of different places. You stay at hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, campsites and more depending on what the area you are visiting is trying to showcase. This week I find myself in Estherville Iowa as a guest of their community to share some of the charm that the 6,500 people who call it home have to offer to visitors. Never before have I been so touched by a simple sign in my hotel room and I just had to share this message to the Estherville Traveler from the Estherville Hotel and Suites:

Greetings Traveler

Because this hotel is a human institution to serve people, and not solely a
money-making organization, we hope that God will grant you peace and rest while
under our roof. May this room and hotel be your “second” home. May those you
love be near you in thoughts and dreams. Even though we may not get to know
you, we hope that you will be as comfortable and happy as if you were in your
own home. May the business that brought you our way prosper. May every call
you make and every message you receive add to your joy. When you leave, may
your journey be safe. We are all travelers. From “birth to death” we travel
between eternities. May these days be pleasant for you, profitable for society,
helpful for those you meet, and joy to those who know and love you best.

Greetings Estherville Iowa Traveler

That is just the tip of the iceberg at this independently owned and operated gem in the heart of Northwestern Iowa. The friendly greeting upon check in, the clever decor in the breakfast room, and even the comfortable lounge in the entry way. You would never guess from the unassuming exterior that inside awaits a home-away-from-home experience. It just gave me the “warm fuzzies” and I actually read it over the phone to my husband.

About the Estherville Iowa Hotel and Suites

Honestly, this place is similar to other hotels in looks and offerings. The rooms are comfortable, have standard ammenities and a hot breakfast buffet is included with your stay. There is a pool, hot tub, and more. What sets it aside from other hotels I have stayed at is simply the people. Estherville has 6,500 amazing people that make you feel like you are cominig home and a few of thesse great people make this hotel so inviting that people congregate in the open areas to chat with each other and more. “This community is small enough for everyone to know each other but not so small that they know everyone’s business”. Lexie Reuter, the Executive director at Estherville Chamber of Commerce, nailed it on the head but you really should check it out for yourself. It’s like a slice of Mayberry, but in the midwest.
