Disney Dining

We have never eaten with the Disney Dining Plan before but are this time around. I did a LOT of homework on this one…oiy!

First of all, can I say – what the heck?
The tips that some “expert” Disney people share are occasionally surprising. I particularly enjoyed the gal who was telling people that the “Toppings Bar” for burgers and sandwiches are basically just a salad bar! All you need (she said) was an extra plate or bowl and you could score a free meal for at least one person.

Ummm — and she is the one you see stealing all the little creamers, sugar packets and jellies off the table at a restaurant.

PLEASE do not do anything like that!

You CAN eat well on the dining plan and I will share my “restaurant review” after our trip. We will NOT be eating at any place twice!

I felt that the best plan was the one that had one quick/counter service, one table service and one snack per day. This is known as the “Dining Program“. Meals include drink (non alcoholic) , entrĂ©e and dessert. Table service includes several character meals/buffets and, it does NOT include alcohol or tips. I wouldn’t tip a counter service but would tip a table service employee.

Now, if you are lucky enough to book when they have a FREE dining program for your packages – GO FOR IT! It will save you a lot of time planning your meals.

***Here is the big thing that a lot of people miss***
You have to make reservations for Table Service Meals! The sooner the better, if you want to eat at YOUR time vs THEIR times left. Our trip is in August but I made our dinner reservations in February. Seriously.

Here is our round-up of planned meals:

  • Planet Hollywood
  • Studio Catering Company
  • Peevy’s Polar Pipeline
  • 50’s Prime Time Cafe
  • Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus
  • Sunshine Seasons
  • Liberty Inn
  • Tamu Tamu
  • Yak & Yeti
  • T-Rex Cafe
  • Riverside Mill Food Court
  • Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
  • Be Our Guest (for lunch)
  • Cinderella’s Table (dinner)

We have some of the snacks planned out too — but that is another post, for another day.
